Is Chipotle's No GMO promotion backfiring ?? IWANNAKNOW..

Who would have thought that health food advocates would be cheerleading for a fast food chain simply because it promoted its food as GMO free. Most health food types rarely use fast food restaurants, or at least shouldn’t. But just a few short months ago in April 2015, health sites celebrated the Chipotle Mexican Grill announcement that they had become GMO free with headlines like “We’re Winning”, referring to their resistance against GMOs.
Chipotle is a relatively upscale fast food restaurant chain with franchises in several countries including the USA. So that would be great publicity for the anti-GMO movement.

But Hold On Now …

Why are McDonald's Fries so darn good? Let's find out...

**notice that both of these guys are really fit!

Marco here..  Instead of the standard two ingredients necessary to make french fries-potatoes and oil, there are approximately 17 as reported on the ingredients facts list on the McDonald's website.

They include:
Potatoes, canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, safflower oil, natural flavour (vegetable source), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain colour), citric acid (preservative), dimethylpolysiloxane (antifoaming agent) and cooked in vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with THBQ, citric acid and dimethylpolysiloxane) and salt (silicoaluminate, dextrose, potassium iodide).
At a glance, many of the ingredients above are hazardous to human health, including those which are genetically modified (canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil), hydrogenated (soybean oil), chemically preserved and antifoaming (THBQ, citric acid, dimethylpolysiloxane), and artificially colored (sodium acid pyrophosphate).

How many people do you think have an awareness that McDonald's french fries contain this many ingredients? Thanks for the transparency McDonald's...hopefully it will help wake up more people to the difference between your artificial food and real food.

Labeling GMO's is Useless

My Man, Paul Fassa. The Healthmaven!

Marco here. As long as GMOs continue to be planted and utilized, the whole food chain is endangered. Enacting GMO Labeling implies co-existence with GMO and non-GMO crops. Monsanto convinces Whole Foods executives and other food distributors and merchants that GMO, non-GMO, and organic crops can share the turf – but this isn’t true.

GMO's: You're Already Eating Them!

Today's Rant! By Roger Mason

You cannot avoid GMO foods. They are already ubiquitous (everywhere) in our food supply. You are already eating them everyday. They will NOT go away. Monsanto and the other food giants have made sure of that. They are too profitable to give up. There are currently over 170 million acres just in the U.S. devoted to these toxic crops. Monsanto owns many seed patents on these science fiction foods. Genetically modified foods grow faster, grow larger, and are more resistant to insects and disease. They make farmers more money. It's all about the money. The FDA said there was "no difference between these and regular crops."

You are already eating GMO foods every day. Shopping at the health food store won't help. You can't possibly even think of growing every single food you eat. The answer is in LABELING. Labeling is the ONLY answer. If we can just get labeling laws passed, we can avoid all GMO foods. Fifty countries already use GMO labels, including all of Europe. In these countries there simply are no GMO foods, because people don't want them and refuse to buy them. The U.S. government actually had to subsidize this garbage with your tax money to pawn them off on the unsuspecting. Labeling is not going to happen however. The food giants like Dean, Kelloggs, General Mills, Pepsico and all the rest have made sure they do not have to label GMO foods. The same is true of the countless fast food outlets. They don't want to label their foods either. They have all paid off everyone in Congress to insure that. If these poisons are labeled no one in their right mind will buy them.

The Peoples Republic of California is the only state so far to put this to a public referendum. The good news is that 2/3 of the voters do want all GMO foods labeled. The bad news is that 1/3 are so totally clueless and stupid they don't care. That's right, they don't care how much GMO food they eat. Incomprehensible!

Think it is going to help to buy "healthy brand names"? Think again. Kashi is owned by Kellogg, and is full of GMO foods. They deny it because they are worthless liars. Silk Soy Milk is owned by dairy giant Dean Foods. It is full of GMO soybeans. Larabars are made by General Mills and is full of GMO grains. Such famous brands as R.W. Knudsen and Cascadian Farms are full of GMO foods. All of these companies are paying off Congress to not label GMO foods. That's right, the "healthy brand" companies are our enemy. Profit is their bottom line. It will cost them to source non-GMO foods. They don't want you to know the truth.

Major chains like Whole Foods are hiding the fact they are selling GMO foods. One quarter of what they sell contains GMOs and they have been doing this for over a decade now. They do everything possible to keep you from knowing their stores are full of them. They actually instruct their employees to lie to you and say, "Whole Foods sells no GMO foods at all." Is all they have to do is tell every supplier to accurately label their foods. That's all. Just label them as to whether they have GMO foods or not. They won't do it though.

Get used to eating GMO foods because you'll be eating them the rest of your life. We do need more animal and human studies, but these take time. No person or animal should be eating FrankenFoods. These are Frankenstein science fiction genetically reprogrammed foods for profit.

If you want to know more just Google "GMO labeling" and other such terms. Google the GMO Ticking Time Bomb 15 minute youtube movie by Gary Null. Spend just 15 minutes learning the truth If you Google "dangers of GMO foods" you'll get about one million websites with endless scare stories that will make you afraid to ever eat again. We do not understand genetic engineering at all. Genetic engineering of our plant and animal food supply can only end in disaster with FrankenFoods. These are not going away. The only answer is labeling, and that's not going to happen. I hate to say this folks, but live with it. You have no choice. Do everything you can to get these science fiction nightmares labeled, but the mega-corporations have bigger wallets than us. Sign any petition you find, and support any legislation in your state for honesty in labeling.

WHAT YOU'RE EATING CAN KILL YOU! Do Ya Even Care?

If you were eating something completely unnatural - something that could make you sick - give you cancer - make your testicles shrink, your "Boobies" turn green, or heck, even flat line you, wouldn't you want to know? If you answered yes -then you're on the same side as over 90% of your fellow Americans.
Poll after poll over the last few years - has shown that more than 90% of Americans support specific labeling of genetically modified foods that they buy in grocery stores. And European and other developed countries require labeling of GMOs -- genetically modified foods. But even though for years Americans have been demanding the right to know what's in their food - and whether or not it's franken-food - not a single piece of state or federal legislation has ever been passed to
make it happen. That's why I sneak in and label it myself!

Genetic Roulette: Are We On The Wrong Side of a Bet?

When the US government ignored repeated warnings by its own scientists and allowed untested genetically modified (GM) crops into our environment and food supply, it was a gamble of unprecedented proportions. The health of all living things and all future generations were put at risk by an infant technology.

After two decades, physicians and scientists have uncovered a grave trend. The same serious health problems found in lab animals, livestock, and pets that have been fed GM foods are now on the rise in the US population. And when people and animals stop eating genetically modified organisms (GMOs), their health improves.

This seminal documentary provides compelling evidence to help explain the deteriorating health of Americans, especially among children, and offers a recipe for protecting ourselves and our future.

IS YOUR VITAMIN C ON GMO'S? Gotcha Thinkin' huh...

Marco here! Interesting topic huh? GMO vitamins! Some of you might know this already but many do not know yet about the truth of most vitamins and supplements being sold worldwide.

"As we complement our organic whole foods-based diet with herbs and supplements, we need to make sure that these vitamins and botanicals are derived from naturally occurring plant and mineral sources, and that they contain no synthetic chemicals whatsoever," says Organic Consumers.

"Vitamins E (tocopherols) and C are the most common vitamins raising GMO concerns, since E is derived from soy and C from corn." What next? GMO children?

Fake Vitamin C!

PEPSI AND GMO's? Wait, what? Really?

got pepsi?

Hey Howdy Hey! Marco here... Most people just think of soda when they hear the name “Pepsi.” But in fact, PepsiCo is the nation’s largest food company and second largest in the world. Its annual earnings top $60 billion, from a dizzying array of brands. Walk down almost any supermarket aisle (soda, snacks, cereal, juice) and you’re likely to bump into a PepsiCo-owned product.
PepsiCo brands span five divisions: Pepsi-Cola, Frito-Lay, Gatorade, Tropicana, and Quaker. While most consumers probably think of processed snacks and cereal-type products when trying to avoid foods containing GMOs, beverages are also a major culprit (which explains why Coca-Cola has donated more than $61,000 to the No on 37 campaign). Somebody gettin' fat!

Fighting to Make Sure You'll Never Know What's in Your Food!

Hey, it's Captain GMO! In November, California voters will vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on a law to require mandatory labeling of all GMO ingredients in processed foods, and ban the routine industry practice of mislabeling foods containing GMO ingredients as ‘natural.’
Polls show that nearly 90% of the state’s voters plan to vote ‘yes.’  But when November rolls around, will voter support still be strong? Not if the biotech, agribusiness, and food manufacturers industries can help it.
It’s estimated that the opposition will spend $60 million - $100 million to convince voters that GMOs are perfectly safe... (Wink Wink!)

HOW TO AVOID GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD!

Hey, it's Marco! Whether genetically modified (GM) foods are safe or harmful is still controversial. Most foods we eat may contain ingredients derived from genetically modified organisms (GMOs)--everything from baby formula and food to our dairy to even our meat. If you live in Europe, avoiding GM foods is easier since laws require labeling. However in the US and Canada food manufacturers are not required to label if their food is genetically modified or not. As such, here are some guidelines for steering clear of GM foods in your diet, if that is your choice.

FAST FOOD CHAINS TURNING OVER A "NEW LEAF?"

Hey, it's Marco! Did you know that Monsanto, the St. Louis agricultural unit of Pharmacia Corp., calls its potato "NewLeaf." It is the latest and smallest crop to feel the sting of a growing anti biotechnology campaign in the U.S. and abroad. Critics have raised enough questions about the environmental and
nutritional safety of crop biotechnology that surveys show many U.S. consumers want labels on groceries containing genetically modified ingredients, a move the food industry resists. However, Fast-food chains such as McDonald's Corp. are quietly telling their french-fry suppliers to stop using the potato from Monsanto, the only biotechnology concern to commercialize a genetically modified spud.
So many food concerns are shrinking from the Monsanto potato that J.R. Simplot Co., a major supplier of french fries to McDonald's, is instructing its farmers to stop growing it.

I AM A GMO LABELER! JOIN ME. NOW! This Is So Kewl!

Hey Howdy Hey! This is Awesome! There is a new movement in town! And it's all about people taking matters into their own hands regarding GMO labeling. Instead of waiting and begging Big Gumbment to actually require that genetically engineered foods (GMOs) be labeled as such, Eff it! Do it yourself! The Label It Yourself (#LIY) campaign empowers people to make educated decisions about what is in their food, without waiting for government or corporations to do it for them. (label it yourself) Remember, it's not the thought that counts, it's the ACTION!

Now this is something we all can really get behind! It's the "something" that we all can do that is cheap, easy, and an immediate solution to the growing problem of not being able to recognize GMOs in our food supply. Why do I think this is important? We are unknowing participants in this GMO experiment as there are currently no government requirements that foods containing GMOs be labeled. Very few people are aware that they are almost certainly consuming significant amounts of GMOs. As of 2011, 88% of U.S. corn is genetically engineered as are 94% of soy, 95% of sugar beets, 90% of canola oil, 90% of cotton, and about 80% of Hawaiian papaya (Rainbow papayas). Also, this spring marked the first planting of GMO alfalfa. Now you know why I'm always huffin' and puffin' about going
Organic!
Did ya know that in 2003 the Grocery Manufacturers Association estimated that GMOs were present in 70% to 75% of conventional processed food on supermarket shelves. That number is even higher today! Everything including bread, cereal, frozen pizza, soup, soda—all sorts of processed foods—now contain genetically engineered ingredients. Another common source of GMO food is dairy products from cows injected with the genetically modified hormone Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH). Hey! You folks need to know this! Ignorance sucks! Trust me, I know...

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TO LABEL?

If the ingredients of a product are any of the following, the product is likely to contain GMOs and therefore SHOULD be labeled:
*Anything that contains: NON-ORGANIC corn, NON-ORGANIC soy, NON-ORGANIC canola, NON-ORGANIC cottonseed
*Animal products (meat, dairy, eggs) that are not organic can contain genetically modified hormones and were probably fed GMO food!
*Most chemical additives to food are made from GMO corn and soy.
*Sugar! Much of the sugar in the US is made from GMO sugar beets, including brown sugar.

Here is a partial list of high-risk ingredients:
Corn syrup
Corn starch
Corn oil
Cornmeal
Fructose
Dextrose
Glucose
Soy meal
Lecithin
Isoflavin
Tofu
Soy Protein Isolate
TVP (textured vegetable protein)
Vitamin E
Xanthan gum
Tempeh
Vitamin B-12
Baking powder
MSG
Yeast extract
Modified food starch
Vegetable Oil
Cottonseed Oi
Canola Oil
Aspartame
Food Colorings

I don't mean to rant! I just don't want to wake up some day with a third testicle! Be the change!

InGREEDients The Choice Is Yours!!! 1 of 4

In the documentary film "inGREEDients", registered nurse and filmmaker, David Burton, discovers an alarming connection between diet and illness while investigating trans fats and hydrogenated oils in America's food supply. Do you know what a partially hydrogenated oil is? What does zero grams of trans fat per serving really mean? Find out in this compelling documentary that takes the audience on a time-line journey through the history of human food consumption from prehistoric times to the present, when heart disease is the number one killer of humans and despite recent changes in food labeling laws, pounds of trans fats are consumed everyday.

Is That Real Food? Or GMO? And Why Are There No Labels!!

Hey, it's Marco! You can avoid sugar, aspartame, trans-fats, or MSG if you're a savvy reader of labels. But if you want to avoid genetically modified organisms (GMO's), it's not so easy. They're not listed on labels. You could buy organic foods, which by law can't contain more than 5 percent GMO's -- but now that might not work either.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved three new kinds of genetically engineered foods -- alfalfa, a type of corn, and sugar beets. And the FDA will likely soon approve GM salmon, which would become the first genetically modified animal to be sold in the U.S., but probably not the last. And the FDA and USDA will not require any of these products, or foods containing them, to be labeled as genetically engineered. This despite the fact that over 95 percent of people polled say they think GM foods should require a label.'
