Is Chipotle's No GMO promotion backfiring ?? IWANNAKNOW..

Who would have thought that health food advocates would be cheerleading for a fast food chain simply because it promoted its food as GMO free. Most health food types rarely use fast food restaurants, or at least shouldn’t. But just a few short months ago in April 2015, health sites celebrated the Chipotle Mexican Grill announcement that they had become GMO free with headlines like “We’re Winning”, referring to their resistance against GMOs.
Chipotle is a relatively upscale fast food restaurant chain with franchises in several countries including the USA. So that would be great publicity for the anti-GMO movement.

But Hold On Now …

Don't Get Naked! (not that kind of naked..)

Let's look at the facts..

- In its early days, Odwalla was a small company owned by a few individuals that made real, raw food juices. Since its acquisition by Coca Cola in 2001, almost everything has changed.

- Naked juice was sued for knowingly using GMOs in its juice, when it advertised as "all natural" and "Non-GMO."

- Neither of these food drinks use organic produce, which means you're ingesting pesticides.

- Naked juice was found to contain fructooligosaccharides, fibersol-2 and inulin; three synthetic ingredients.

- Both Naked and Odwalla juices are pasteurized, meaning most of the nutrients in them have already been destroyed before they ever reach store shelves.

- Both products feature the words All Natural which means exactly nothing, as they can contain pesticides, artificial ingredients, GMOs and are pasteurized.

- For less than the cost of these over priced faux health drinks you can buy organic produce and make your own organic, GMO-free juice that contains many times more more nutrients.

- Make your own stuff. Eat it. Drink it. Live it. Do you honestly believe these Big Corporations have YOUR best interest in mind?

Rice? With Inbred Human Traits? Come on... Really?

Unless the rice you buy is certified organic, or comes specifically from a farm that tests its rice crops for genetically modified (GM) traits, you could be eating rice tainted with actual human genes. The only known GMO with inbred human traits in cultivation today, a GM rice product made by biotechnology company Ventria Bioscience is currently being grown on 3,200 acres in Junction City, Kansas — and possibly elsewhere — and most people have no idea about it.

Since about 2006,Ventria has been quietly cultivating rice that has been genetically modified (GM) with genes from the human liver for the purpose of taking the artificial proteins produced by this “Frankenrice” and using them in pharmaceuticals. With approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA),Ventria has taken one of the most widely cultivated grain crops in the world today, and essentially turned it into a catalyst for producing new drugs.

MONSANTO IS AT IT AGAIN!

Misuse of a United States government seal can lead to a $250,000 fine, twenty years in prison, and three years of supervised release — unless you’re a campaign organization funded by major corporations like Monsanto. In a move completely ignored by the mainstream media (many of which have financial ties to such corporations), the anti-GMO labeling No on 37 Committee paid for and disseminated a physical piece of direct mail that not only entirely misused the FDA logo but even sported a fabricated quote.

"HFCS" Gave Me the Runs, but it's Good For Ya!

EaT sOmE CoRn.

Part of a campaign by the CRA to convince people that high fructose corn syrup isn't dangerous.

This just completely cracks me up, saying HFCS is just as healthy as sugar is like saying cyanide is just as healthy as arsenic.

But while I think these commercials are stupid, I also think this is the right way to go about it. HFCS is on the label, I get to decide if I want to eat it or not and so do you!

Even if you DON'T understand the science and cannot make an informed decision, don't you have the right to choose for yourself what you put in your body? I mean, do you need a science degree to order from a menu?

Now the second ad, is somewhat more blatant. In this commercial, the opponent of corn syrup appears to be a mother who wants her kids to have healthy food. But notice that she's also extremely rude, uninformed, and perhaps not very bright. She's unlikable, and her opinions about HFCS are contradicted by someone who's much more likable.

The HFCS-supporter-mom not only seems to know her stuff - it sounds like she's been rehearsing this conversation all week - but she's also very likable, and seems trustworthy. She's cool-headed, not getting upset when the other lady practically accuses her of being a bad mother and a terrible person. She's clever and well-informed. She's the kind of mom other moms want to be.

These ad guys really drive their point home, eh?

Oh, check out this "Spoof!"

GMO's: You're Already Eating Them!

Today's Rant! By Roger Mason

You cannot avoid GMO foods. They are already ubiquitous (everywhere) in our food supply. You are already eating them everyday. They will NOT go away. Monsanto and the other food giants have made sure of that. They are too profitable to give up. There are currently over 170 million acres just in the U.S. devoted to these toxic crops. Monsanto owns many seed patents on these science fiction foods. Genetically modified foods grow faster, grow larger, and are more resistant to insects and disease. They make farmers more money. It's all about the money. The FDA said there was "no difference between these and regular crops."

You are already eating GMO foods every day. Shopping at the health food store won't help. You can't possibly even think of growing every single food you eat. The answer is in LABELING. Labeling is the ONLY answer. If we can just get labeling laws passed, we can avoid all GMO foods. Fifty countries already use GMO labels, including all of Europe. In these countries there simply are no GMO foods, because people don't want them and refuse to buy them. The U.S. government actually had to subsidize this garbage with your tax money to pawn them off on the unsuspecting. Labeling is not going to happen however. The food giants like Dean, Kelloggs, General Mills, Pepsico and all the rest have made sure they do not have to label GMO foods. The same is true of the countless fast food outlets. They don't want to label their foods either. They have all paid off everyone in Congress to insure that. If these poisons are labeled no one in their right mind will buy them.

The Peoples Republic of California is the only state so far to put this to a public referendum. The good news is that 2/3 of the voters do want all GMO foods labeled. The bad news is that 1/3 are so totally clueless and stupid they don't care. That's right, they don't care how much GMO food they eat. Incomprehensible!

Think it is going to help to buy "healthy brand names"? Think again. Kashi is owned by Kellogg, and is full of GMO foods. They deny it because they are worthless liars. Silk Soy Milk is owned by dairy giant Dean Foods. It is full of GMO soybeans. Larabars are made by General Mills and is full of GMO grains. Such famous brands as R.W. Knudsen and Cascadian Farms are full of GMO foods. All of these companies are paying off Congress to not label GMO foods. That's right, the "healthy brand" companies are our enemy. Profit is their bottom line. It will cost them to source non-GMO foods. They don't want you to know the truth.

Major chains like Whole Foods are hiding the fact they are selling GMO foods. One quarter of what they sell contains GMOs and they have been doing this for over a decade now. They do everything possible to keep you from knowing their stores are full of them. They actually instruct their employees to lie to you and say, "Whole Foods sells no GMO foods at all." Is all they have to do is tell every supplier to accurately label their foods. That's all. Just label them as to whether they have GMO foods or not. They won't do it though.

Get used to eating GMO foods because you'll be eating them the rest of your life. We do need more animal and human studies, but these take time. No person or animal should be eating FrankenFoods. These are Frankenstein science fiction genetically reprogrammed foods for profit.

If you want to know more just Google "GMO labeling" and other such terms. Google the GMO Ticking Time Bomb 15 minute youtube movie by Gary Null. Spend just 15 minutes learning the truth If you Google "dangers of GMO foods" you'll get about one million websites with endless scare stories that will make you afraid to ever eat again. We do not understand genetic engineering at all. Genetic engineering of our plant and animal food supply can only end in disaster with FrankenFoods. These are not going away. The only answer is labeling, and that's not going to happen. I hate to say this folks, but live with it. You have no choice. Do everything you can to get these science fiction nightmares labeled, but the mega-corporations have bigger wallets than us. Sign any petition you find, and support any legislation in your state for honesty in labeling.

WHAT YOU'RE EATING CAN KILL YOU! Do Ya Even Care?

If you were eating something completely unnatural - something that could make you sick - give you cancer - make your testicles shrink, your "Boobies" turn green, or heck, even flat line you, wouldn't you want to know? If you answered yes -then you're on the same side as over 90% of your fellow Americans.
Poll after poll over the last few years - has shown that more than 90% of Americans support specific labeling of genetically modified foods that they buy in grocery stores. And European and other developed countries require labeling of GMOs -- genetically modified foods. But even though for years Americans have been demanding the right to know what's in their food - and whether or not it's franken-food - not a single piece of state or federal legislation has ever been passed to
make it happen. That's why I sneak in and label it myself!

Fighting to Make Sure You'll Never Know What's in Your Food!

Hey, it's Captain GMO! In November, California voters will vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on a law to require mandatory labeling of all GMO ingredients in processed foods, and ban the routine industry practice of mislabeling foods containing GMO ingredients as ‘natural.’
Polls show that nearly 90% of the state’s voters plan to vote ‘yes.’  But when November rolls around, will voter support still be strong? Not if the biotech, agribusiness, and food manufacturers industries can help it.
It’s estimated that the opposition will spend $60 million - $100 million to convince voters that GMOs are perfectly safe... (Wink Wink!)

HOW TO AVOID GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD!

Hey, it's Marco! Whether genetically modified (GM) foods are safe or harmful is still controversial. Most foods we eat may contain ingredients derived from genetically modified organisms (GMOs)--everything from baby formula and food to our dairy to even our meat. If you live in Europe, avoiding GM foods is easier since laws require labeling. However in the US and Canada food manufacturers are not required to label if their food is genetically modified or not. As such, here are some guidelines for steering clear of GM foods in your diet, if that is your choice.

Are Infant Formulas a Contributing Cause of Infant Deaths in the US?

If your lives were embittered as mine is, by seeing day after day this massacre of the innocents by unsuitable feeding, then I believe you would feel as I do that misguided propaganda on infant feeding should be punished as the most criminal form of sedition, and that those deaths should be regarded as murder... Remember, Infamil and Similac contain GMO's!

What is Genetically Modified Food?

Getting the Goods on GMOs

GMOs - Genetically Modified Organisms are more widely prevalent than you might think, finding its way into a majority of the food on the grocer's shelf that we then buy, take home and feed to our family. The American people are widely unaware of this fact and the impact it has on their health and the ultimate effect on the environment.
