Are YOU Trading Sleep for Work ?? Yeah, you...
Hey, Marco here. We all work, and realize that SLEEP is so vital to our health, yet so many people give it up to work at their jobs more. This is a study finding and it applies to just about all socioeconomic levels. Being a short sleeper wast correlated with having several jobs. The study's lead author, Dr. Mathias Basner, recommends several ways to combat this problem. One is to reduce the commute time, which was factored in the study. Another was more flexibility in work start times. Cutting back on working several jobs per single person would also help. At least seven hours are necessary for optimizing one's mental and physical productivity and output.
If you're struggling to shed a few pounds, ask yourself why you spend so much time on the job, which btw, can also be a fertile ground for over eating. Just a thought... Hugs !!

Cherries, Honey, Flax, Bananas, Almonds and Sleep?
Marco here.. For many, the secret to getting a good night's sleep comes down to two things--stress and diet. It's important to not overload your digestive system two or less hours before you sleep. Including one or two of these sleep promoting foods will help to relax tense muscles, quiet buzzing minds, and/or get calming, sleep-inducing hormones -- serotonin and melatonin -- flowing. On the flip side, there's five foods to stay away from. Read on people, then get some Sleep!

Take a Nap! Change Your Life
It's free, nontoxic, and has no dangerous side effects. So why do people have to be convinced to nap? Employers want to keep their workers occupied with the business of business. Parents want their children to do homework when they come home from school or play outdoors instead of "sleeping the day away." But as the facts pile up, the case for napping becomes too compelling to dismiss. For those of us with “real lives,” however, we don’t have the luxury of experimentation. Rest assured, though, I’ve done the work for you! Here’s a brief outline of the best things I’ve found about adopting a napping schedule:
Getting more done.
Having more motivation.
Feeling more rested.
Being able to wake up earlier and fall asleep later.
Feeling better all the time
Go ahead, just not while you're driving!

Why You Don't Sleep Like You Used to...
Is the current norm of consolidating sleep into one uninterrupted block a social construct, primarily influenced by industrial capitalism? Could be...
Marco here. Ah, sleep: life's natural, blessed repose from the ardors of arousal. As a physiological necessity, we desire and crave it. Yet for so many Americans, sleep's caressing graces are unattainable. Modern society demands a strict schedule; rest is penciled in as an afterthought. In fact, the CDC reports that approximately 41 million Americans sleep fewer than six hours each night.
But it wasn't always this way. This is interesting. Read on...

SOMEONE ASKED ME ABOUT INSOMNIA, SO HERE.
Marco here. So I get this email from some lady (poor thing) who claims she can't get to sleep at night. Sleep apnea? Insomnia? Sorry, I'm no expert here. I sleep in a bed, on the couch, the floor. I'll sleep anywhere. Who can't fall asleep, especially in a bed? Come on, I fell asleep on a fence one time. People fall asleep everyday driving... Told her to try melatonin and some night teas. Probably never hear from her again...
Anyway, insomnia can range from the occasional sleepless night to years spent tossing and turning - and sleep deprived. If you suffer from the latter - chronic or long-term insomnia - these remedies are a good place to start. Yet, you also need to see your doctor to determine the cause and identify treatment options before your health and quality of life are compromised.

10 Strange Facts About Dreams
Hey, it's Marco! You are getting sleepy, very sleepy. When your head hits the pillow it’s lights out for the brain and body, right? Not if you consider the brain cells that must fire to produce the sometimes vivid and sometimes downright haunted dreams that take place during the rapid-eye-movement stage of your sleep. Why do some people have nightmares while others really spend their nights in bliss? Like sleep, dreams are mysterious phenomena. But as scientists are able to probe deeper into our minds, they are finding some of those answers. Here's some of what we know about what goes on in dream land.

The Snooze Button
Hey, it's Marco! There’s a strange phenomenon called "The Snooze Button Effect" that’s been plaguing my world for years! Here's what happens! In my sleepy stupor, I press a button that, as the hypothesis goes, can supposedly delay an undesirable event from happening for several minutes or until I find the courage to get up off my arse! How is it that a press of a button can cause me to believe its delusional effects. As if a few more minutes of sleep will actually make a positive difference! Thanks to the great Dr. Wayne Dyer, I now realize "The breeze at dawn has secrets to offer, don't go back to sleep!" (If you get that, you'll know what I'm talking about!) Here's what the wonderful Mel Robbins has to say about the dreaded snooze button...
The Snooze ButtonPS! "The Breeze at Dawn?" What the?? The breeze at dawn is the time of the greatest inspiration and creativity for me, it's the time when you are the closest to your Source/God/Divine Being/Alien Visitor. Therefore, when you arise, put your feet on the floor, feel the morning breeze and listen to your inspirational thoughts...or just get up, brush your teeth, and go for a run! You'll never want to, but if you want to tone up that big butt, or shed that beer gut, you're gonna have to do what no one else will do for you! Exercise CAN make you smarter too! That will be my next post...

Hey, it's Marco! Bedtime is often one of the most stressful times of the day for families. (Especially around my house!) LOL! Kids are bouncing off the walls on their second wind, parents are exhausted, and the clock says it’s past time to be asleep. Yoga can help bring a sense of calm, induce the relaxation response, and ensure a good night sleep for children and parents alike. And, you might just save your marriage! And your sanity...
