Yoga for a Healthy Heart: Is this really possible??

How Yoga Heals:

What if the simple act of doing yoga could heal your diseased heart?
A new study titled, "Effects of Yoga in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure: A Meta-Analysis," reveals that this ancient practice, ever-increasing in popularity in the West, has profound benefits to those who are suffering from cardiovascular disease.

Previous to this study, the idea that yoga could heal a diseased heart was considered strictly theoretical, which is what motivated a team of Portuguese researchers to put the concept to the test.

The team performed a meta-analysis of the published research on the topic of how yoga might improve exercise capacity and health-related quality of life in patients with chronic heart failure.

One Day to Live... got time ??

Take a moment and think about what you would do if you knew you only had one more day to live. Would you act any differently?

How would you relate to and treat your family and friends? Would you show them more respect and concern? Would there be some people you would ignore rather than allow them to waste the precious time you had left? Would there be some past misunderstanding that you would set straight?

What would you do if you had just one more day to live?

Next, consider how you spend your time each day. Are you glued to the TV watching the latest reality show? Do you spend time on idle gossip? Do you play time-wasting games on Facebook? Do you read all the emails that get forwarded to you?

Here’s what I really want you to consider. If you knew you had just one more day to live, how would you change the priorities of your life? Would you suddenly focus on what was truly important and ignore a lot of activities that consume your average day? It doesn’t matter to me what your answer is, but I do believe you should be honest with yourself.

You may think this exercise is foolish since you’re in good health and expect to have many more days to live. But in truth, you can only live today. You can’t live in the future; it isn’t here yet. And although some people spend a lot of their time in the past, they can’t change it. There’s nothing we can do to alter the past. And the future will unfold with circumstances and challenges we can’t anticipate. We can only live today. Life is lived one day at a time, and today is the only day you can live your life. When tomorrow does come, it will be today.

If you really put some thought into the questions I’ve posed, you’ll realize that there are lots of moments when you aren’t truly living today to its fullest. You can’t save life until tomorrow. You can either make the most of today or you can choose to waste it. You can spend your time on unimportant things or you can focus on what truly matters to you.

If you answered my earlier questions and found that you would change your behavior if you only had one day to live, I suggest you give some thought to focusing more on what’s important to you in life. Today is truly the only day you can live. Make the most of it. Because someday, it will be the last day of your life, and then it will be too late to change...

Mindfulness Breathing Exercise

The Value of an Hour: Read all about it !!

“If you invest one hour each day in understanding yourself and your environment better, you will accumulate nine 40-hour weeks over the course of a year!”
Yikes! As you can imagine I was blown away by this information.
Nine 40-hour weeks? This seemed impossible until I did the math. 365 days, times one hour each is…yup, nine 40-hour weeks!
How good could you get at something if you did it all day, every day for just over 2 months. Well, you already know the answer to that.
I thought I could be awesome!
If we do this over the course of just five years, I would have invested the equivalent of 1,825 hours of focus on whatever I desired to accomplish my life. Speak Mandarin anyone? got French?
Imagine for a minute, how good you can become at anything that you did one hour a day for the next year. How fit could you get? How much more in love would you get and give? How much more money could you earn?
Let me suggest that one hour is a small price to pay in comparison to the payoff. Just one hour a day may be the razor’s edge you need to really get the results you want in your life.
For me, the decision was easy. I have been studying human potential and the mind for over 10 years. Each time I think I’m getting a good handle on it, I am gently reminded of how much there is to observe and learn.
Is getting what you want worth an hour a day? I certainly hope so.
I still manage to set aside my hour to read motivational stories or listen to inspirational people. They are the fuel for my mind and it keeps me learning and yearning for more.
Please adopt an hour a day for yourself! Pick one area of your life that you want to improve and commit the next 90 days to that one thing.
I assure you that the results you achieve will be well worth the decision! And remember…you can’t take out of life more than you put in. Just Do It !! You'll be glad you did. Absolutely, positively, guaranteed.   Hugs !!

Vitamin D Ain't no Vitamin... But it's Damn Good !!

Whatever condition and disease you study, vitamin D keeps coming up as a major factor. That's right, no matter what illness you study, you find vitamin D deficiency to be a factor. This includes cancer, diabetes, CHD, and the other deadly diseases. Vitamin D is the most important and deficient vitamin of all. Vitamin D is vital for prostate and breast health. These are the two leading male and female cancers. All American men will have cancer cells in their prostate if they live past 60. One in eight American women will get breast cancer. Vitamin D is the most important vitamin for bone and joint health. 95% of Americans over the age of 65 suffer from some form of arthritis or similar inflammation. Vitamin D is vital for cardiovascular health. Vitamin D is vital to help prevent diabetes. Strong immunity is related to vitamin D. Longevity depends in part on vitamin D levels. Our emotional and mental health is related to vitamin D levels. Vitamin D deficiency is an epidemic in most of the world. Most people do not get enough sun exposure. It is not in your food. It only comes from sun exposure.

Did anyone ever tell you that vitamin D really isn't a vitamin at all, but a hormone? That's right, it is actually a hormone, and not a vitamin. Vitamins come from the daily food we eat, and there is no meaningful amounts of "vitamin" D in any food. Vitamin D comes from exposure to sunlight, and most of us do not get enough exposure to sunlight to make enough of it. In winter, and in northern climates, this is especially true. If you take All Your Vitamins® (you get this when you buy All Your Minerals®), or any other common vitamin formula, you will get the RDA of 400 IU (which equals 10 mcg). You should not take more than 800-1,200 IU daily. Pseudo-authorities, who tell you to take 2,000 to 5,000 IU, are crackpots. Hyper levels of vitamin D, or any nutrient, will hurt your health, not help it. There are numerous studies to prove this. Vitamin D is a powerful, oil soluble hormone, and high doses are dangerous. Hyper blood levels have been shown to harm your health. The National Health Examination Survey of 15,000 people proved excessive blood levels cause serious harm (American Journal of Cardiology v 109, 2012). You do not need more than a total 400 IU supplement when you are getting exposed to the sun regularly. If you get in the sun from, say, June to September, you should not take anymore than what's in your daily vitamin supplement. During the rest of the year take an extra 400 to 800 IU in addition to your daily vitamin tablet.

There are several forms of vitamin D including D1, D2 and D3. You want to take D3 (calciferol). Vitamin D3 is converted in our bodies to the active form, which is dihydroxy vitamin D. Doctors and pharmaceutical corporations keep promoting dangerous, synthetic, expensive, prescription-only analogs of vitamin D. These can be patented, rather than sold over the counter. It is important not to take too much D3, as it is oil soluble, toxic in excess, and will result in serious side effects. Since you can't get any meaningful amounts in common foods, this is not a problem at all.

Remember how popular cod liver oil has been for decades now? This is really because of the vitamin D content. People often really do get dramatic results from simply taking a spoonful of cod liver oil. This is because they are getting the vitamin D they need so badly. Of course, taking a multivitamin with vitamin D is a much more practical- and tasty- way to do this.

There are many reasons we suffer from so many diseases and conditions in the richest country in the world with the highest standard of living. One important and proven reason is lack of vitamin D in most people. Study after study shows people of all ages in all countries are deficient in vitamin D by serum blood analysis. This is especially true of black people, obese people, the poor, and the elderly. These people should take 1,200 IU. Along with your multiple vitamin just take an extra 400 IU or 800 IU capsule of inexpensive vitamin D when you're not getting out in the sun regularly. No matter how well you eat, you aren't going to get any significant amount in your diet. If you are in the sun regularly you only need the 400 IU in your daily multivitamin. No, you do not need to get your blood level tested.

The published science behind this is just overwhelming and growing by the day. People of all ages should take it. Vitamin D deficiency is a worldwide epidemic. In every single country that has been studied, the residents were deficient on average. Ironically, even those in tropical and sub-tropical countries have been found to be low. The massive Tromsoe Study (European Journal of Endocrinology v 162, 2010) showed that low levels were actually associated with all-cause mortality. The lower your serum vitamin D, the sooner you die! Just take a proper supplement every day and no more than 1,200 IU.
