Are We Ready For the Coming 'Age of Abundance?'

Sugar, Salt, Fat and your "Bliss Point"

Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us on Deadly Junk
Food giants have used food science to train Americans for a lifetime of extra calories, pounds and health risks. And you wonder why your butt is so BIG!

Did you know these Big Corporations rely on three chief ingredients, and they’re as tasty to the palate as they’re pleasingly cheap to the corporate bottom line: salt, sugar, and fat. When served separately and in moderation, none of them is harmful. The difficulty, for health-conscious consumers, arises from the industry practice of heaping on copious amounts in felicitous combinations designed to reach what’s known in the business as the bliss point. According to a food psychologist quoted by Moss, the bliss point is the “optimum concentration at which the sensory pleasure is maximal. . . . [It] dictates that we eat and drink more than we realize.”

NUTRITION: The Dirt Facts from my Guru: Paul Chek!

Supermarket Secrets - pt1 (yuck, make your own food..)

How and what we eat has radically changed over the past few decades with the all-consuming rise of the supermarket. But what price are we paying for the homogenised, cheap and convenient food that supermarkets specialise in? In a two-part programme, journalist Jane Moore investigates how supermarkets have affected the food on our plates and reveals the tell-tale signs that the food we buy may not have been grown in the way we think.

Using a combination of undercover filming and scientific analysis, Supermarket Secrets investigates whether the food on supermarket shelves is really as good as it looks, whether prices are as good as they seem and what happens behind the scenes in the production of supermarket food.

The Slow Poisoning of India.. please watch!

The Slow Poisoning of India is a 26-minute documentary film that deals with the dangers of excessive use of pesticide in agriculture. India is one of the largest users of pesticide in Asia and also one of the largest manufactures. The toxins have entered into the food chain and into their breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The film showcases startling case studies from Kerala where villagers in Kasaragod district are paying a heavy price as it has been exposed to pesticide spraying for many years. It talks of the health impacts in other parts of India and also on how the magic of the green revolution in Punjab is fading as land and water bodies have been poisoned.

Wanna be a Genetic Engineer? Better wear a bullet proof vest!

Marco here! Got a great documentary thriller on the theme of genetic engineering and the independence of science, the fate of Scientist. Here's the dealio. If these guys find a problem, they get slapped around. You know, told to shut up. If the problem is really severe, well, let's just say you'll no longer see them in church on Sunday!

Hmm, Are these REAL Seeds? Seeds of Destruction! Buwahahaaaaa!

Genetically modified foods…
Are they safe?

The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) doesn’t think so. The Academy reported that “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food,” including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. The AAEM asked physicians to advise patients to avoid GM foods.
Before the FDA decided to allow GMOs into food without labeling, FDA scientists had repeatedly warned that GM foods can create unpredictable, hard-to-detect side effects, including allergies, toxins, new diseases, and nutritional problems. They urged long-term safety studies, but were ignored.

Foodopoly: The Battle Over the Future of Food and Farming in America fro...

Wenonah Hauter, the executive director of Food & Water Watch, discusses her new book, "Foodopoly: The Battle Over the Future of Food and Farming in America." Hauter tackles the corporations behind the meat, vegetables, grains and milk consumed by millions every day -- including some of the most popular organic brands. "Foodopoly" details how a handful of large corporations control the nation's food production in ways that limit how small-farms operate and how ordinary people make choices in grocery stores. And in the wake of the recently passed provision dubbed by critics as "the Monsanto Protection Act," Hauter also discusses the new report by Food & Water Watch, "Monsanto: A Corporate Profile.

What are "Superweeds?"

As weeds grow resistant to Monsanto's Roundup pesticides, farmers are forced to spray larger quantities and more hazardous types of chemicals to keep these "superweeds" at bay. As a result, the health of the farmers and our environment are at risk.

War on Health - The FDA: Friend or Foe?

In the near future, American medical practice may change dramatically for the worse. No longer will maximal dose natural supplements—vitamins, natural compounds, and scientifically proven medicinal herbs—be available over the counter in local health and grocery stores. Holistic practice, which relies upon non-prescription natural treatments instead of Big Pharma drugs prescribed life-long, will diminish. American healthcare will be imprisoned, patients will be forced to abide by a single medical paradigm defined by corporate drug and food executives and dictated by a government enforcement agency, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is the bleak scenario if the FDA succeeds in limiting Americans' options to prevent and treat diseases.

'War on Health' is the first documentary detailing and challenging the FDA agenda ..

A Brief Introduction to 'Dirty Electricity' - Dr. Sam Milham

Electro-Magnetic Pollution
:
This 17-minute briefing is one post in a new EON series of videos on the work of Dr. Sam Milham, an epidemiologist and author of the book DIRTY ELECTRICITY.

Dr. Milham's groundbreaking research demonstrates a strong correlation between the rise of the so-called 'diseases of civilization' and the historical spread of electrification.

He explains how the harmonics and frequency distortions generated by appliances and microwave antennas and riding on the 60 cycle current running through household, school and office wiring can seriously impact human health.

Ask an Attorney what "Natural" means on food labels..

"Next to nothing!"

With the nation finally waking up to the sad reality that truly healthy food doesn’t come in a box, food manufacturers are desperate to keep shoppers fooled into thinking highly processed food products are good for them. How do companies get away with this? Because the federal government lets them.

But it’s not for a lack of trying. Read on folks. It will only take 45 seconds.. (sorry, I'm way too tired to write my own stuff)               Just started "Insanity!"

Natural. It's ain't organic!

Take a Nap! Change Your Life

It's free, nontoxic, and has no dangerous side effects. So why do people have to be convinced to nap? Employers want to keep their workers occupied with the business of business. Parents want their children to do homework when they come home from school or play outdoors instead of "sleeping the day away." But as the facts pile up, the case for napping becomes too compelling to dismiss. For those of us with “real lives,” however, we don’t have the luxury of experimentation. Rest assured, though, I’ve done the work for you! Here’s a brief outline of the best things I’ve found about adopting a napping schedule:

Getting more done.
Having more motivation.
Feeling more rested.
Being able to wake up earlier and fall asleep later.
Feeling better all the time

Go ahead, just not while you're driving!

Okay People, There is NO BABY CARROT Scare..

Marco here! Calm down all my fellow carrot eaters, yes there are rumors all over the internet warning that baby carrots are a "danger to your family," that they're made from "deformed full-sized carrots", and that they're "soaked in chlorine."

Not true. Here's the deal. Your carrots are washed in a chlorine-water solution, but it's a safe amount approved by the FDA. (and you know how we trust the FDA) but the solution is tiny and it's done for safety. We don't want any food-born illness like e-coli or salmonella growing in our bags.

Baby carrots come from regular carrots, not "deformed" ones. The carrots are then cut down to cocktail size and spun in machines that peel and rotate them to give them that nice rounded shape everyone likes.

Next, they're washed before being sealed into snack bags. The only reason the carrots get that nasty, old, white wrinkly look is because they're dehydrated. Go ahead, eat your baby carrots. Just make sure they're organic! Beats a bag of GMO chips!

Don't want Diabetes? Smoke some Effing Pot! (Study included..)

A provocative study comes right as Massachusetts begins a new medical marijuana law. The theory? Using pot could lower your risk of diabetes. What tha hell did you just say?

Using pot could lower your risk of diabetes. Where do I sign up? Wait, I have children..

And check this out.. we've all heard about "the munchies," that urge to eat more, especially tacos, when under the influence of marijuana.

But a new study published by the American Journal of Medicine finds despite the habit among recreational pot users to take in more calories, it doesn't lead to weight gain. And the benefits of marijuana don't end there. Thank the Gods!

WTH is "Schmeat?" Lab Grown Hamburger Patties! Yummy!

WTH?  This delicacy-of-the-future is grown from a cell culture rather than a live animal. Said cells are harvested from an animal, such as a pig, and placed in a nutrient-rich soup that mimics blood. Once the cells multiply, they are affixed to a spongy sheet (shmeat = sheet +meat) that has also been enriched with nutrients and then stretched to amplify cell size and protein content. Beats McDonald's..

Soy: It's "soy" Bad for You, and It's Everywhere, Even in Vitamins

With the abundance of studies showing soy's damaging health effects, it's crazy that doctors across the nation and food manufacturers everywhere continue to tout how good it is for you to eat a ton of it.

The Healthy Home Economist reported there are a whopping 170 scientific reasons to cut soy from your diet — everything from causing pineal and thyroid gland dysfunction, to endocrine system interruption, to stopping a woman's menstruation, to dropping a man's testosterone levels, to links to breast and prostate cancer.

But soy is a really tough cut to make considering that it is found lurking in seemingly everything in America! Soy isoflavones in protein shakes, added soy vegetable proteins, soy lecithin as an emulsifier... Recently we even found soy hidden in canned tuna in water!

In fact, Dr. Sanjay Gupta reported that if Americans are what they eat, then this nation is made up of corn and soy people. Yuk!

Why are McDonald's Fries so darn good? Let's find out...

http://www.greenbiz.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/wide_large/07052011McDonaldsFries.jpg

**notice that both of these guys are really fit!

Marco here..  Instead of the standard two ingredients necessary to make french fries-potatoes and oil, there are approximately 17 as reported on the ingredients facts list on the McDonald's website.

They include:
Potatoes, canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, safflower oil, natural flavour (vegetable source), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain colour), citric acid (preservative), dimethylpolysiloxane (antifoaming agent) and cooked in vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with THBQ, citric acid and dimethylpolysiloxane) and salt (silicoaluminate, dextrose, potassium iodide).
At a glance, many of the ingredients above are hazardous to human health, including those which are genetically modified (canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil), hydrogenated (soybean oil), chemically preserved and antifoaming (THBQ, citric acid, dimethylpolysiloxane), and artificially colored (sodium acid pyrophosphate).

How many people do you think have an awareness that McDonald's french fries contain this many ingredients? Thanks for the transparency McDonald's...hopefully it will help wake up more people to the difference between your artificial food and real food.

For $280 billion a year, would you sell drugs?

If you could get 70 percent of Americans addicted to your drugs and rake in $280 billion a year in the process, would you do it? If you could come up with a “pill for every problem” and charge Americans twice as much for those pills as people in other countries pay, would you do it? If you could make more money than you ever dreamed possible by turning the American people into the most doped up people in the history of the planet, would you do it?

Make money selling drugs! :D
